Marcus Siqueira is from Caratinga, MG, studied composition with Willy Corrêa de Oliveira -  since the period of graduation in classical guitar under the guidance of Edelton Gloeden - ( CMU/ECA/USP ), continuing in private lessons (1993-2002).

 

He won and was awarded in important composition competitions in Brazil, in addition to receiving three of the most significant musical creation grants in his country ( Funarte - 2014 and 2008, Fundação Vitae - 2003 and RioArte  2001). He also received important awards in soundtracks for Theater and Cinema.  

 

In Brazil, the OSESP (São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra), OSN (National Symphony Orchestra), OFMG (Minas Gerais Philharmonic Orchestra), Osusp (University of São Paulo Symphony Orchestra), the extinct OSRTC - Orquestra da Rádio and TV Cultura de São Paulo and OSUFRJ , OSU , conducted by Joana Carneiro (Portugal), Lutero Rodrigues, Marcos Arakaki, Carlos Moreno, Lutero Rodrigues and Ernani Aguiar, Ricardo Bologna, respectively, premiered some of their works for this formation.

  

His compositions have been played by important Brazilian and foreign interpreters, in recitals and festivals in Brazil, Turkey, Colombia, USA, France, Portugal, Germany, Holland, Spain, Switzerland, England, Greece and Italy. Special mention for Fabio Luz (piano), Lilian Tüzün Tonella (piano), Gilson Antunes (guitar), Felipe Magdaleno (guitar), Simona Cavuoto (violin), Daniel Murray (guitar), Abstrai Ensemble, Camerata Aberta, Percorso Esemble, Icarus Esemble (Italy), Fabio Zanon (guitar) Quinteto Latino (USA) and Epifania Piano Trio, among others.

He performed transcriptions for the São Paulo State Symphony Band and the Orquestra Brasileira de Sopros de Tatuí with interpretation by Aylton Escobar  and Dario Sotelo, respectively.  ​

 

He regularly participates as a composer in the Biennials of Contemporary Brazilian Music (RJ and MT), Festival Música Estranha (SP), Festival Babel (PA) and Festival Música Nova (SP), Festival Campos do Jordão (SP). As a teacher and speaker, he participated in the Festivals of Ourinhos ( SP), Vital Medeiros (SP), Winter Festival of the City of Prados (MG), among others.  

 

He has recorded CDs with solo, chamber and orchestral works ( Paulus label, Água-Forte , Selo  SESC , among others). He has published works with special emphasis on OSESP Editora , Da Vinci (Osaka-Japan) and Editora Urbana .

In January 2010, he gave master classes on rhythm at the conservatories of Bologna and Pesaro in Italy.

 

In 2013, it launched  two CDs by the SESC Seal: " Contraluz " - all focused on his Chamber Music - and " Ligeti + " with the work " Kronos e Kairós, a portrait for Nancarrow & Ligeti ", with interpretation by the Percorso Ensemble.

In 2014, he released two works for the CD "3+2/SP" performed by Epifania Piano Trio (Simona Cavuoto, Alberto Kanji and Felipe Scagliusi): "Gli Occhi Trepidano Di Ilusioni (Trio) and "Espectros Pelos Jardins de Concreto" (Duo).

In September 2014, he premiered his work Signo Sopro V, for amplified guitar and orchestra, with interpretation by the renowned guitarist  Gilson Antunes  and Unicamp Symphony Orchestra ( OSU ), under the baton  Ricardo Bologna .

In 2014, he coordinated the Soundtrack Composition workshops of the project  CINE(POE)MAS , held by the  Cultural Workshops of the State of São Paulo, managed by the  POIESIS  - Social Organization of Culture.

 

In 2015, he participated in the audio DVD “Boulez+” , also by the SESC label, with the work “A Onda” for violin and electronics in real and deferred time, at the invitation of  Flo Menezes .  Also, this year, he participated in the CD “Universos em Expansão” recorded by the violist Daniel Murray , with the work “Madrigal” for 11-string guitar and electronics in real and deferred time.

      

As a pedagogue, he worked on the faculty of EMESP (São Paulo School of Music), at the  Santa Cruz College  and  Colégio Oswald , where he developed his own method for creating music for elementary school and high school children, respectively.

taught in  Higher Music Course (EAD - Licentiate)  Cantareira College  from 2014 to 2018 and currently teaches free music courses in Italy, where he lives, with special emphasis on the courses taken  in institutions such as: Conservatorio Bruno Maderna  (Cesena), Conservatorio di Musica Giovan Battista Martini  (Bologna) and Conservatorio di Musica Arrigo Boito (Parma).

He was musical advisor at Colégio Oswald  of 2015/2018.

It has an integrated course of "Ritmica Avanzata" - Modules I & II  at the Conservatorio di Musica Giovan Battista Martini  (Bologna), since 2018 and teaches classical guitar at Scuola Rossini di Cervia.
